Pilates Classes
Benefits of Pilates
Are you suffering with back pain that is stopping you being fully involved in the activities you love or maybe you are feeling stressed and anxious? Pilates can really help to ease the pain and calm the mind whilst also improving your strength and flexibility. Taking an hour out of your busy week to focus on yourself can do wonders for your mental health.
Pilates is a body conditioning method created by Joseph Pilates back in the 1920’s. It targets deep postural muscles, building strength, rebalancing the body and helping to bring it into correct alignment, gaining the perfect balance between strength and flexibility.
‘It is the mind itself which builds the body’, Joseph Pilates
Pilates encourages people to move in a safe and effective way, leaving them feeling taller, calmer and more toned. I love to see the change in clients as they grow in confidence and really start to feel the benefits as the weeks go by.
Classes build awareness of your body through these 8 principles:
- Relaxation
- Alignment
- Concentration
- Breathing
- Co-ordination
- Stamina
- Centring
- Flowing Movements
What to expect
Group classes and private sessions have a fun, relaxed atmosphere where you will feel at ease, whether you are a regular exerciser or are starting from scratch.
Pilates involves a mixture of lying, seated and standing exercises which can easily be adapted to take into consideration any physical limitations or injuries you may have.
Cost
For group classes: Classes run as blocks of approximately 6 weeks in line with school term dates. It’s £8 per class but payment is made in advance for the block as a whole.
For private sessions: Tailored to your individual needs, sessions can be booked on a week by week basis. Costs vary depending on where the session takes place. The price for a one hour session in your own home is £40 if it’s within 5 miles of Eccleshall.
How to book
Please give me a call or send me an email if you would like to join a class.
It is useful to have a chat about your previous experience and whether you have any limitations so I can decide which class will suit you best.

‘The class is just perfect. I love the pace. Helen is a great teacher. Gives us the encouragement and support when we need it. She is so happy and smiley and makes everyone feel welcome. It’s brilliant’
Sue, Beginners Pilates
‘It has strengthened my core muscles which has helped support my back. I find the classes mentally challenging which is good at my “mature” age. I enjoy meeting with everyone and the banter in the class’
Sandy, Intermediate Pilates
‘Helen is a first class teacher, she always explains Pilates exercises very well and helps in a supportive and sensitive way if we need it. Adjusting the exercise to what she knows we can do’
Gill, Intermediate Pilates
‘I enjoy the physical challenge, sense of achievement when I succeed in doing an exercise correctly, time to focus just on my own body and relax my mind. The gentle music, Helen’s friendly, warm, patient teaching and company of others in the class’
